Andre Hughes

Social Entrepreneur

Andre Hughes spent his corporate career building global strategic partnerships and applying technology innovations to power results. A member of the founding partner group at Accenture from 1988-2011, Andre helped transform the telecommunications market from voice to data. Now he is using those same skills to propel Powered by Action (PbA), an innovative (and affordable) platform that accelerates nonprofit scalability. PbA enables universal access to proven nonprofit programming and help, increases engagement and leverages rewards to incent desired behaviors that exponentially raise social impact.

Andre is a former global managing partner of Accenture, a management-consulting firm with 480,000 employees worldwide and $43 billion in revenues. He led the formation and growth of Accenture’s Network Consulting practice and the Accenture Cisco Business Group. He also led teams and strategies focused on Human Capital, Inclusion and Social Responsibility as part of the greater plan.

Andre is chairman and founder of Big Heart Ventures and PbA, and chairman and angel investor of two tech companies: BigMarker and MyOwnDoctor.

Andre has an MBA in finance from the University of Chicago and a BS in Engineering from Purdue University. He received Purdue’s Burton D. Morgan Entrepreneurship Award in 2015 and was named a Purdue Old Master in 2019.

Andre’s nonprofit board experience includes corporate philanthropy and citizenship through The Accenture Foundation, the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, the Purdue Krannert School of Management’s Business Opportunity Program, the Thurgood Marshall College Fund, the Chicago Urban League, LeaderShape, BoyScouts of America, and the Presidential Council for Economic Growth and Development in Haiti.

Andre believes that innovation and smart technology combined with love equals a healthier and more secure trajectory for generations of people.
